It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

Only now... only now. Better late than never right?

For the past days, I have been working for a 10-page paper, synthesizing everything I have learned in my years of studying philosophy. And if you are thinking that its easy, think again. The 10 page paper (or even hundreds) will not suffice to describe, define, or even answer the question “what is philosophy”, no words will ever capture it because “kahit na sabihin na alam mo na, meron parin tayong hindi alam” as Fr. Roque Ferriols said.

I have given up so many things for this paper. The Christmas parties of some SOA orgs, the caroling of ACIL and ACLC, the Bicol trip, the rally last Sunday, the lunch with my family, dinner, movies, and coffee with friends, and some Dsessions with my mentor Father M. Those things I have to sacrifice for this paper, and now… I have done the impossible. I am finished. Consumatum est.

I haven’t had enough sleep. This past week I have Simbang Gabi at 830 at the Gesu, after that go back to my paper and sleep at around 1am. Then wake up at 245 to go to Simbang Gabi in different areas (Montalban, Payatas) and giving homilies and communion then sleep again at 7am then, wake up at around 10am then the usual day. Whew!

But today… its liberation day. As of 1:20 pm I ended my agony and passed my paper. Some of the people who are in the department congratulated me of having done so… they know how hard it is. Its done… and I think the synthesis paper is of the things that hinders mo to feel Christmas.

But now its done… I have to prepare a new and review for the Comprehensives. But before that, allow me to feel, smell, taste the spirit of Christmas. And I promise to savor the moment. Hmmmm…. Thank you dear God!
